Hello, Ghouls! As a lot of you know the most recent Monster High Doll came out this month, July 22, 2022, at 9 am Pacific Time to be specific. People on Reddit were posting about scalpers two days before the actual doll's release! It sure brought my anxiety up as I checked the countdown clock on Mattel Creations' website: 1 day and 14 hours left, 16 hours, 9 hours. I checked that clock religiously while planning how I was going to get this doll without spending my dad's birthday on my phone. He wanted to see the horror/ thriller Nope that came out on the same day, it was my treat, and, as luck would have it, the earliest showing in IMAX was late enough for me to sneak out into the movie lobby before all the trailers finished and the movie started, or so I thought. On the day off, I checked the timer on the website, an hour and a few minutes left. I set a timer to vibrate ten minutes before the drop. I already felt the anxiety. I close all the tabs, to be distracted come game time, but no to worry I had an icon on my phone that went straight to the listing. We're at the theater, tickets and snacks were secured. I was in the theater. The movie started, I miscalculated. My timer vibrated when our brother-sister duo were in Fry’s electronics store, it made no noise I swear! I left the showing and stood in the lobby, realizing for the first time that they removed the benches that sat between every other pole pairing.
I was shaking! My heart was beating so fast I could hear so clearly, my hands only calmed enough to work the screen of my phone. Pacing the empty lobby, noises from the encircling theaters played as the soundtrack to this moment. I’m not exaggerating, it felt that epic, those last ten minutes felt much longer. Eight seconds left, I stayed on Frankie’s pages. The page reloaded and it read sold out. I felt numb. ‘No possible way it was sold out in less than a minute!’ I closed the tab and then taped on the icon. It read 'add to cart’. Let’s Go! I added to the cart, the shaking hands were back. When I got to check out the estimated waiting time was two minutes, then one minute, then less than a minute, the page loaded in to check out details. I am so grateful for automatic information input. It took care of my name, address, and card details, I just needed to confirm and done. Order confirmation page, credit charge notification, email from Mattel recieved. I got the doll, I honestly didn't think I would, but I GOT THE DOLL! I can't wait until its shipped! I returned to my theater; my dad looked at me and whispered "got it?" I nodded, he nodded and gave me a thumbs up as I sat down. I reached for the popcorn and returned to the world of Nope, with doll promised. The movie was really good, and I recommend everyone watch it!
