Doll Movies/TV

Image
Rainbow High is on Netflix and YouTube. This isn't the first show MGA made to promote their doll line. Creating show movies for dolls is pretty common. Bratz is the first one I saw and  understood as an enjoyable long form commercial. I loved everything about that show, Monster High is another one. Barbie is an OG movie show that littered my young childhood. Princess and the Pauper was a favorite for young Sol. At that age I didn't understand that it was a commercial aimed at young kids because as a child you don't think about that.  I took to reddit to see what movies my fellow doll lovers watched in the past, today, yesterday, ect. First, I went to the Bratz's sub-reddit I asked what movie(s) should I watch for my blog and I got a good amount of answers. Then I went to the Monster High sub-reddit and posted the same question, it was taken down, so I took a-round-about way to get my answer in a new post to the sub-reddit. I asked, what are your favorite ...

Why I have two of Luna Mothews

I didn't mean to! I have to mention that before I get into it.       It was late at night and I was on eBay... I think that says it all right there, but I'll continue. I was specifically looking for Boo York dolls starting with Luna first. I found her inbox for about 90 UDS. It wasn't in the price range I was hoping for, but I added it to the cart and kept scrolling. The prices kept going up and up all for inbox Luna, so the high prices make sense, but I'm not really an inbox collector. I wanted a Luna out of the box with her headpiece and wings. I found one added it to cart and took a few minutes to scroll some more for a better price before checking out. That doll was in the 20~26 dollar range, and the others I saw were 45~60 dollars, so I headed to check out to buy it, but it was already gone. In the few minutes it took me to scroll, 3 minutes max, the doll was already gone. Like... how... what? But it's Luna the Queen so it makes sense. The next doll I saw ...

New Monsters

I did exists when Monster High first came out, G1. I remember laying down on my room floor with my laptop open. I stumbled on a website full of glamorous monsters. Entranced, I watched video after video and re-watching them when I hit the last one. Then I found dolls. As a kid with no job, I was elated about receiving my first wave Lagoona Blue. Back then I knew nothing of First Waves, and the fact that all the, now named, G1 dolls would no longer be produced like it was wasn't even something I thought about. I had fun enjoying the dolls as they were.      I stepped away from the dolls for a while, packed them up, and put them in my closet, not wanting them out and staring at me, but not wanting to truly part from them. When I came back, I placed all of them throughout my three bookshelves next to some anime figurines, POPs!, and small nicknacks. Engrossed with video essays about Monster High then and now. I remembered seeing G2 dolls in store, not try...

Boo York- Doll Lot

I found a doll lot. I believe it was a doll lot. More than one doll was a part of the deal, 3 specifically, so I'm calling it a doll lot. Anyway! Dolls, especially G1 Monster High dolls are expensive. I got my Honey Swap Circ-du-Freak (in box) for 80 USD, and any doll I got for 20~26 dollars came out of the box, and without a lot of their OG accessories, maybe they came with one or two, but for the most part, it was just the doll. Sometimes I would find dolls around that price point, but with missing limbs. However, I found three dolls from Monster High's Boo York for 75 USD in total!     We have Catty Noir, Elle Eedee, AND * drum roll please*  LUNA MOTHEWS!!!!!! Each, I paid about 25 dollars. For me, it was worth it. I'm reentering my Monster High days, and just now entering the doll collecting market. So, price wise I'm still figuring out what is appropriate to spend on dolls that are no longer in production. If the dolls are missing things that leave them un...

Uma Van Hoose- Rainbow Vision

Image
I like Descendants . The second and third movie was a fun watch. Favorite character? Obviously , Uma. I don't know her last name, but I loved all her songs, and the chemistry she had with her two crew-mates was entertaining, it revived my inner child that everyone needs to embrace. Now, onto Uma Van Hoose!  She is really pretty. The broken heart on her cheek gives me Shadow Draculaura vibes. Her pink tinted cheeks brings out the glimer in her eyes. I feel this doll's personality is full on display in her execution and I am enamored with it. I found her when visiting Florida. I was shocked to see her because I haven't been able to find her anywhere else. The Rainbow Vision release can only be described as a drip release. You found pieces here and there but never more than two together. From what you can tell from my previous statment, I don't dislike her doll.  I just don't find her as exciting as I find the Divas and the other two members of her band. That doesn...

Harley Limestone- Clothes

Image
In my last post I spoke about Harley's shorts. In this one I'm going to break down her second outfit. Now, I really like her first outfit's shoes and hoodie, I also like the designed on her shorts, just not how obvious the shorts are. The second outfit is a lot better. I would say the first outfit was for a glamed-up rehearsal, and the second outfit was for showtime. The lighter colors complements her lime skin, and makes her green and black ombre lip stand out. I love black! Pair black with black and I tend to like it, but I really appreciate this outfit for its minimal use of the shade, using beige and white as major colors with only black for details was really good use of color in the doll. The only major black in the second outfit, are the shoes black silver-toed combat boots, with silver dots boarding the bottom of the shoes, a silver heel, laced up with neon-green. Her eye make-up gives me futuristic space pirate, like it belongs in Doja Cat's "Need to Kn...

Harley Limeston- Rainbow Vision

Image
I heard of the Shadow High line for Rainbow Vision around the end of June. I was excited to see what was to come, but like any other doll collector on a budget, I had to downplay my excitement for the release. I Ignored any updates on the dolls' release for  Shadow and Rainbow High. One day I was binge-watching doll re-rootings and customs on YouTube. I was watching A Frankie rerooting when I was recommended an unboxing for Harley Limestone. I don't know why, but the name Harley is one of my favorite names and our Harley's Neon green hair matched with her black graphic hoodie got me, I don't know what a budget is anymore. I love her thigh-high laced-up sneaker boots, painted neon nails, and silver cat ears headband. However, I'm not the biggest fan of her gray- neon shorts; the shorts are the same make as Nicole Steel's shorts just neon with writings on the side, but they work for Nichole because she's an athlete, and the rest of Nichole's outfit takes ...
