New Monsters

    I did exists when Monster High first came out, G1. I remember laying down on my room floor with my laptop open. I stumbled on a website full of glamorous monsters. Entranced, I watched video after video and re-watching them when I hit the last one. Then I found dolls. As a kid with no job, I was elated about receiving my first wave Lagoona Blue. Back then I knew nothing of First Waves, and the fact that all the, now named, G1 dolls would no longer be produced like it was wasn't even something I thought about. I had fun enjoying the dolls as they were.

    I stepped away from the dolls for a while, packed them up, and put them in my closet, not wanting them out and staring at me, but not wanting to truly part from them. When I came back, I placed all of them throughout my three bookshelves next to some anime figurines, POPs!, and small nicknacks. Engrossed with video essays about Monster High then and now. I remembered seeing G2 dolls in store, not trying to be dramatic, but they pushed me further away from the dolls at that point. Then I heard about G3, Generation 3. I was weary. I saw the trailer for the movie first, and was disinterested in the movie, but still a little distraught with how much was changing in Monster High. I wasn't hating the actors or Voice Actors, or writing posts blindly bashing G3 because... boundaries. While I cared about the dolls and their changes, the fun part about being in a fandom is smothering the object of affection with...affection. Also, sending hateful messages because someone dislikes the new direction is wholly inappropriate and will stifle the creativity that would've produced something amazing, you never know. 

    The use of G1, G2, and G3 in the Monster High fandom, literally translates to generation 1, generation 2, and generation 3. It would be more disturbing if the new dolls in gen 3 didn't change things up. I think that's why gen 2 wasn't as well received as it could have been. If gen 2 kept the details of gen 1 but changed up the monsters, it would have been met with resistance, like most things are, but it wouldn't have been rejected as hard as it was by the fandom. With G3, I'm excited for the movie's soundtrack, and the new doll designs. Based on leaks the dolls seem to have the details I loved so much from G1 and still love from Shadow/ Rainbow High dolls. I don't like everything from the G3 dolls, but I didn't like some of the lines and some of the guy dolls from G1. I mean people won't like everything, and that's to be expected. Are you excited for G3's released?
